Affidavit, 1824, (3 p., copy) of Lasley's testimony about Michael Dousman's part in the surrender of Fort Mackinac to the British in July 1812, given Oct. 15, 1824, and approved by the Michilimackinac County (Mich.) clerk, J.B. King, Nov. 12, 1824. The affidavit also mentions Commodore Perry's victory on Lake Erie.

Lasley was at Mackinac during the surrender of the American fort. In 1813, Lasley was imprisoned at Fort Malden in Amherstburg (Canada). After trying to escape, he was given his freedom in return for delivering a letter to the British commander at Mackinac Island, where he further observed Dousman. Dousman was pro-British, appeared with the flag of truce asking the fort to surrender in 1812, and was afterwards was rewarded by being named supervisor of the highways, 1812-1815.
